This one made me laugh and I thought I'd share...Real beads! (plastic) Be wary of things marked authentic because they most likely they are not.

Indian Country Today Media Network came across a Craigslist add this week that made us stop and scratch our heads. The seller advertises an “Authentic Dreamcatcher!! Pre-blessed” for only $45.
Within the posting the seller uses terms like: “complete with wolf power,” “shamanic…

It doesn't interest me what you do for a living. I want to know what you ache for, and if you dare to dream of meeting in your heart's longing.

What started at the turn of the century as an effort to gain a day of recognition for the significant contributions the first Americans made to the establishment and growth of the U.S., has resulted in a whole month being designated for that purpose.
One of the very proponents of an American Indian Day was Dr. Arthur C. Parker, a Seneca Indian, who was the director of the Museum of Arts and…

Thank you to everyone for all the birthday wishes and for being positive for me.
The good news is that I have had surgery (at the Day Surgical Unit at Gloucester Royal Hospital) and have had injections into my spine and surrounding area either side of the spine so that I am now PAIN FREE! There is no guarantee how long this will last but it has now been two weeks and I am feeling great. I just have to remember I am not a spring chicken any more and have to watch what I can do--for…

In recognition of the contributions and accomplishments Native American Indians have had in American history, the month of November was declared to be National American Indian Heritage Month by President George H. W. Bush in 1990. This month long observance provides a time for American Indians to share their history, culture and traditions with others.
Long before the president and congress established a commemorative month, Dr. Arthur C. Parker was one of the first advocates for an…

My comments here exclude those men who have stepped forward with incredible courage since 1913 to face this tyrannical government, and like our Founding Fathers, have paid an enormous price both personally and financially. People like Bill Benson, our fine gentlemen down in the great State of Tennessee and too many others to list.
Americans forget that the Founding Fathers were the "moneyed class" back then. They were farmers, merchants and men of means. They had a lot to…
