History teacher

In September of 2005, on the first day of school, Martha Cothren, a History teacher at Robinson High School in Little Rock , did something not to be forgotten. On the first day of school, with the permission of the school superintendent, the principal and the building supervisor, she removed all of the desks in her classroom.

When the first period kids entered the room they discovered that there were no desks.

'Ms. Cothren, where are our desks?'

She replied, 'You can't…

Way back then there were military pictures of our Brave, Honoring them and teaching why they deserved Respect. Nothing in my heart will ever change how I feel about our Veterans and those who serve today.. But there was a time when our Government and some Citizens…

Grilled Pumpkin with Rosemary and Sea Salt

My backyard grown sugar pie pumpkins are finally ripening and a few of the pumpkins ended up being somewhat small and weren't worth the effort to process into pumpkin puree. So, what to do with these little guys? I wanted to do something new and, not having grilled pumpkins before, I was quite excited to give it a try.

During grilling, the…

The Lady in the Water

"Once, man and those in the water were linked. They inspired us.They spoke of the future. Man listened and it became real. But man does not listen very well.

Man's need to own everything led him deeper into the land. The magic world of the ones that lived in the ocean and the world of man separated.

Through the centuries, their world and all the inhabitants of it stopped trying. The world became more violent. War upon war played out as there were no guides to listen to. Now…

That Silent Tear

That Silent Tear

The song plays and a silent tear rolls down her check

She can never forget the sacrifices so many made

The many notices of another life lost

All the condolences sent out to the Families

Nor can she forget those who returned with torn bodies and souls

Yes the song plays and the tears silently fall

Because she knows her Brothers and Sisters who wore the Uniforms

Will also remember with sadness in their…

The past, present, what will the future hold for us?

Yep it's one of those days when I think of times past... Wooden boxes held everything, no cardboard or plastics back then, milk in gallon cans or glass milk bottles and paper was never thrown on the ground instead it was saved to put under the kindling to start a fire in the wood cook stove...Sure life was never easy back then…

Huria's Rock

Huria’s Rock

It, old now. He sits, this old one with his stick, on the beach and the agar

About him all spread to dry. It is good the stick, to turn the spread agar and

to poke the ashes round the big camp oven.

She makes the camp oven bread, my daughter, in the morning early, early,

as did the mother before her. Good bread, this of the camp oven, and the work

of this old one to poke the ashes and… Continue
