Land of Misery Poem by Joe Inca

Land of Misery

On the eastern shore, she knocked on our door

Then drifted away to the west

She then turned north, and steadily forth

With rage upon her crest

As she gathered force, On a steady course

To a land below the sea

Too Unaware, or unprepared

For such a tragedy

Toppling of homes, the shredding of domes

of a wind that relentlessly blows

All the terrain, was flooded with rain

When the lake did overflow

And then she…

Irma and Florida Poem by Franklin Price

Irma and Florida

By Franklin Price

9/10/2017 - 10:07 AM

We're watching several channels

To determine what's for real

Reporters on the outside,

In the wind and rain's ideal

The place now is Miami

Presentation there's the best

Storm surge rising in the streets

Wind and rain are reaching crest

Palm trees show the blowing winds

Waves rock and roll the boats

Around low lying castle homes

Are quickly rising…

Some would say it's just a Rock

Wasn't to long ago I shared about the rock painting Group I belong to in my little town..

I have seen many rocks with beautiful flowers, animals, flags, anything you could imagine.

But this morning as I checked on our group I saw a rock that grabbed my heart and embedded

itself on my soul...

Definitely painted by a man who knows the Price Paid for Our Freedoms

And the Freedoms of Others…

Age Is Better Rod McKuen

Age Is Better

I have been young,

a fresh faced sprout,

with agile legs, a muscled arm and smile

to charm the world I went through

in a rush to get a little older, sooner.

Catching my reflection while passing past

a looking glass not long ago

I discovered I was older, even old. There was

no sudden melancholy or regret, and yet

some sadness in the wonder that it happened

while I wasn’t watching,

No pause to proudly ply the…

The Summing Up

The complete life, the perfect pattern, includes old age as well as youth and maturity. The beauty of the morning and the radiance of noon are good, but it would be a very silly person who drew the curtains and turned on the light in order to shut out the tranquillity of the evening. Old age has its pleasures, which, though different, are not less than the pleasures of youth.

Seasons In The Sun Rod McKuen Translated From Jacques Brel's Le Moribond

This one's for David and Sandy until missing a curve outside Soldotna AK changed everything...

Seasons In the Sun

Goodby, Emile, my trusted friend, we've known each

other since we were nine or ten.

Together we climbed hills and trees, learned of love

and A B Cs, skinned our hearts and skinned our knees.

Adieu, Emile, it's hard to die when all the birds are

singing in the sky. Now that the Spring is in the air

Pretty girls are ev'rywhere. wish…

The Red Road ?

As most of you know who have followed me here on W.N. most of my life has been a battle with

substance abuse and that the A.A. program was instrumental in my recovery from alcohol.

It was not however a factor in my spiritual recovery. Over time I came to realize that what was being offered was a religious program in the guise of a spiritual program and that deference to the Christian

religion was referred to when ever God was mentioned.

This was a problem for me as the…

Dangerous Waters

The attached photo shows a "floating raft" of thousands of fire ants after a flood the whole colony ready and able to recolonize it's self after the waters recede...this could be in abandoned homes, debris etc.

they will attack when disturbed ..en masse.

Then there's rattlesnakes, gators and lots of other displaced animal life swimming around..Bull Sharks in the rivers...sounds like a movie plot but it's happened before. So hats off to all those heroes in Texas

it's not just…

Conversations With Jeshua

Conversations With Jeshua

The book “ Your Souls Gift “ is a follow up on Robert Schwartz

book “ Your Souls Plan “. Here is a snipit of one of the many

conversations with Jeshua:

What else would you like to say to those experiencing poverty or

financial dificulity?

“ Do not despair, “ Jeshua advised. “ Even if the situation seems

bleak and hopeless, know that there is always a possibility for change.

There is always hope. Find two things in your…

Why some tribes won't watch the solar eclipse

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. (AP) — While much of the country gawks at the solar eclipse, Bobbieann Baldwin will be inside with her children, shades drawn.

In Navajo culture, the passing of the moon over the sun is an intimate moment in which the sun is reborn and tribal…

Reflections and Breakfast Down At Mickeys by Judd Herrmann

There is a diner down on Del-Paso Blvd. in North Sacramento called lil' Joes

which back in the 80s was open 24 hrs. and served the street people and late night crowd of the area.

It sat on a corner between a "Adult Bookstore" and a Motel which as you can imagine "complimented"

each other, a block and a half north of there is a A.A. hall where I finally got (and stayed) sober after waking up over a cocked and loaded Revolver convinced me it was time.

LIL' Joes had quite a…

Jesus only costs about a $ 1.89

There's debris in every doorway, broken bottles

at the curb / wounds some people carry / not the

worst of us deserve / there are words that hurt

and haunt me that I overheard one night from a

man down by the mission holding up a traffic light

Jesus only cost about a $ 1.89 in a wrinkled

paper bag that somehow heaven always sends

I only see salvation when I drink until I'm blind

sweet Jesus shed his blood for me

and all my wino…
