The Salmon And The Bear The Exhibitionists

The exhibitionists.

Salmon and Bear were loitering with hesitant intent outside the National Museum of Scotland on Chambers Street. They were nervous and shifty. Indeed it would be fair to say that their loitering bordered on lurking, and furtive lurking at that.

They affected an unconvincing nonchalance in a vain attempt to reassure themselves that their plotting and scheming was latent rather than blatant.

It wasn’t working.

“I have bad feeling about this,” said…

To Pee Or Not To Pee ? That Is The Question

To Pee or not to Pee? That is the Question

Whether ”tis nobler to suffer when woken in the wee small hours by a force majeure, knowing that it will be impossible to clamber over your other half and unzip two of the loudest zips known to humanity without disturbance to their slumber, or just bite the bullet and try to get back to sleep??

However sleep is elusive as you ponder the various options and the weight of your bladder becomes the centre of the universe. There is…

Endless Road Hoyt Axton & Pernell Roberts

At night when the place is quiet..I sit alone

this is my dream time,

a time when I play my songs and let them take me

back to when I was young-and free.

Back when the world was like a three dimensional map

and I was free to go where and when I pleased.

I need this time alone

to dream. In the morning..or early afternoon if my Creator

smiles on me again I'll gladly face the day ..my loving wife beside me

cats surrounding me....but until then....…

Old Soldier Lacy J Dalton

Old Soldier by Lacy J. Dalton

I saw him last Friday on a big concert stage

The warm amber lights did a lot for his age

I touched the backstage pass I wore like a prize

I wanted a good look at the old soldier's eyes

With a towel cross his shoulders to soak up the sweat…

The Ballad Of The Ice Worm Cocktail

The Ballad Of The Ice-Worm Cocktail Robert William Service

To Dawson Town came Percy Brown from London on the Thames.

A pane of glass was in his eye, and stockings on his stems.

Upon the shoulder of his coat a leather pad he wore,

To rest his deadly rifle when it wasn't seeking…

The Coco-Fiend

An outworn harlot, lost to hope,

With staring eyes and hair that's hoary

I hear her gibber, dazed with dope:

I often wonder what's her story.

I remember stories my granddad told me as a child of 12 about Cocaine and the damage it could do and how it was legal around the turn of the century and even though he ran booze during the prohibition years he never touched the stuff but a sister got addicted to it and died at 31.He recited this poem to me…
