Profile Information

How did you hear about Warrior Nation?
Back in September 6, 2015, I was searching some Cherokee vocabulary for my files and ran across your language information and downloaded copies. I have had that along with other references. I had the occasion to use it this evening when a question came up about the word for brother---Udo. Some had said they hadn't heard that word used and sited other words. I said, "well it is Eastern Cherokee and cited your work for that. So after all these years, I was able to use your dictionary!
Favorite Music:
Smooth jazz and of course Native American music.
Favorite Hobbies:
I do Native American feather work such as smudging fans, medicine stick door blessings, prayer feathers, walking sticks and others. I have bloodlines to both Eastern Band and Western Band. My dad's mother has Creek bloodlines.
About Me:
I was born and raised in Dallas, Texas. I met my wife at Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas when she was a student and I working as a Respiratory Care Practitioner. She was from Oak Harbor, Washington. She graduated from Baylor University in 1967. We had our daughter in 1969. In 1970 we moved up to Washington state and have been here ever since. Before I met her, I had spent 8 yrs in the US Air Force getting out in 1964. I went back to school and received a degree in Respiratory Care. In 1974, the Army announced they had a new MOS that matched my degree. So I joined an Army Reserve medical unit, the 50th General Hospital. In October of 1990, our unit was put on alert then mobilized for support of Desert Shield and stayed until after Desert Storm. We were in a Saudi hospital in Riyadh. I retired from the Army and subsequently retired from a local hospital here. My wife retired also as an Oncology RN. We both have about 47 yrs in the health field. I am a member of the Indian Arts and Crafts Association member number 5575.
