SOLDIER
I said it once, now I'm going to say it again, only this time I will change a few words
I was and am that which others did not want to be.
I went where others feared to go, and did what others
failed to do!
I have savored the sweet taste of victory, as well as the bitter taste of defeat.
I have been called many names...Guardian, keeper of peace, warrior, but best of all
I respond to Soldier.
I ask nothing of those who gave nothing , and reluctantly accept the thoughts of enternal loneliness, should I fail.
I have seen the face of terror, felt the stinging cold of fear, and enjoyed the sweet,
wonderful taste of a moment's love.
I have cried, pained, prayed and hope. I have stood proud with honor and steadfast as a rock.
I stand ready to defend my God, my country and the rights and freedom of my family, my friends, and those I have vowed to protect. I am ready to engage the enemy whenever, where ever and who ever they may be when the need arises.
I shall fear no man, for no harm shall shall befall me, less my God shall will it.
But most of all...I have lived times others will say was best forgotten. I am proud that I
was and still am.... A SOLDIER.
