I'm a little late getting over here...This brings back memories of what our black forest shepard did to my daughter. She bent down to give Sasha a kiss and ended up with 6 stitches in her lip. The damage was no where as severe as yours. We too loved Sasha and kept her till she passed away from old age.

To my friends who responded with a comment.. What happened was, my dog Tuffy was sleeping and I bent down to kiss him and it surprised him. He just grabed my face and ripped off my lip, I tried to back up away from him, but he kept charging forward and then grabed me by my face and head trying to snap my neck. While this was all happening I was yelling "No Tuffy No Tuffy It' me It's me" and after he let me go for the second time I moved back quickly and then he bit my thumb as I was protecting my face with my hands. He finally realized it was me and he stop and wag his tail, but the damage was already done. At that point I went to the bathroom to look in the mirror to see my face and was shocked to see what I saw. I called 911 and was taken to the emergency room. Not one moment was I ever mad at my dog because It was just an accident. Words of wisdom, don't ever put your face in front of a dogs face while they are sleeping, because at that second they may not know who you are and attack. I still have my dog and love dearly, we are best friends for life through the thick and thin of it all. Wolves and dogs are my favorite animals in the whole world. Where there is LOVE there is no fear and I do not fear my dog, I just respect him as he respects me. In my home to Tuffy I am the alpha the leader. Thank you all for your concern and comments, oh I just wanted to share this with you all and it happened almost two years ago on halloween believe it or not and I am doing just fine and loving my dog more than ever with each day that passes. --Sincerely Whispering Cloud.
