(This is one way to store Aloe, refrigerate, do not freeze.)
HEALTH BENEFITS OF ALOE VERA

When I say aloe vera is the most impressive medicinal herb invented by nature, I don't make that statement lightly. Of all the herbs I've ever studied, aloe vera is the most impressive herb of them all. (Garlic would be a close second.) There is nothing on this planet that offers the amazing variety of healing benefits granted by aloe vera. In a single plant, aloe vera offers potent, natural medicine that:

• Halts the growth of cancer tumors.
• Lowers high cholesterol.
• Repairs "sludge blood" and reverses "sticky blood".
• Boosts the oxygenation of your blood.
• Eases inflammation and soothes arthritis pain.
• Protects the body from oxidative stress.
• Prevents kidney stones and protects the body from oxalates in coffee and tea.
• Alkalizes the body, helping to balance overly acidic dietary habits.
• Cures ulcers, IBS, Crohn's disease and other digestive disorders.
• Reduces high blood pressure natural, by treating the cause, not just the symptoms.
• Nourishes the body with minerals, vitamins, enzymes and glyconutrients.
• Accelerates healing from physical burns and radiation burns.
• Replaces dozens of first aid products, makes bandages and antibacterial sprays obsolete.
• Halts colon cancer, heals the intestines and lubricates the digestive tract.
• Ends constipation.
• Stabilizes blood sugar and reduces triglycerides in diabetics.
• Prevents and treats candida infections.
• Protects the kidneys from disease.
• Functions as nature's own "sports drink" for electrolyte balance, making common sports drinks obsolete.
• Boosts cardiovascular performance and physical endurance.
• Speeds recovery from injury or physical exertion.
• Hydrates the skin, accelerates skin repair.

Truly, there is nothing else that compares to the medicinal potential of aloe vera. And yet most people only know about the topical applications of aloe vera gel. They think it's only good for sunburns. In reality, aloe vera is useful for both external and internal use.

If you've been to Phoenix, you know that Phoenix isn't all brown sand and tumbleweeds. In fact, many people are surprised at the variety of plants in the desert. They are especially pleased when they discover that many desert plants stay green all year long, and have lovely flowers.

You don't have to be a horticulture expert to have pleasant, colorful shrubs and bushes in your desert landscaped garden. You also don't have to be rich. In this article I will tell you about several desert plants that are perennial (you need to plant them only once), hardy, low care, relatively drought tolerant, easy to find, pretty cheap to buy, and provide lovely color many times during the year. These desert plants aren't rare; after a while, you'll notice that they are everywhere--even on the highways and in public parks. Why? For the very reasons I just mentioned. These desert plants are great choices for people who don't want to spend lots of time working in the yard, but want a nice, colorful look in their desert garden.

Keep in mind that all of these plants will thrive in the Phoenix area, but not in other parts of Arizona, where we have everything from low desert to high desert and even subalpine conditions.

OK, let's go. Here are my picks for easy desert plants for your desert yard or garden.

Bougainvillea
Oleander
Texas Sage / Purple Sage
Lantana
Pampas Grass
Fairy Duster

Canning jar garden lights.

The impetus for the project begins with stick-on LED touch-lights on sale for less than $3 each at Home Hardware. They fit best in the lids of wide-mouth canning jars.
Jars were also bought from Home Hardware at $13 for a dozen. Give the outsides an spraying of glass frosting.
The spray paint frosted up as it dried. All 12 jars were coated with one can of spray.
Here's a closeup of the finished jars in the garden. Because LEDs run cold, the lights can cosy right up to plants.
And the big picture in the Microgarden. Now get up to make a dozen.

Save space and grow cucumbers on chicken wire in the hot sun. Grow greens on the bottom in the same space and they will receive shade from the cukes!
