As most of you know, I am part of an online 'radio' show that is aimed at aspiring musical talent. Our aim is to help these future stars direct their career .. help guide them in how to make the necessary decisions and better prepare themselves for a career in an incredibly competitive yet rewarding field.
One of the things I have noticed is the lack of integration of Native artists into what is 'affectionately' know as "the mainstream."
I have heard much of the current generation of Native Music, both pure Native and 'crossover.' There is much good music out there and many incredibly talented artists.
Since our show is about people who have made it helping those who wish to make it, we were honored and privileged to recently have Grammy Winning Native artist Bill Miller on our show. And we would love to hear and talk with more Native artists who have established successful careers in music: those with recording contracts, major tours or working with other major artists on some level.
Please feel free to contact me if you are 'in the biz' and think you have a story to tell about how you made a career in music that would help upcoming artists, whether they want to grow within the Indigenous community or stretch out into "the mainstream."
