Dignity

When decisions need to be made for the elderly

Do not take their dignity away from them

Do not  over ride their  wishes  with

Yes But's  and ignoring their wishes

We  as  Elders  have traveled may roads

Some  so beautiful  they are never erased from our memories

Others  so horrific if we spent our last days trying to explain the

pain of it all.

Many would never undrstand  what we  have learned from the pain

Because life  back then was different  from  life today.

What we valued back then  has no value to many today

As  Elders we understand when that Great Spirit  decides  our journey is to end

No Child, or Doctor can alter our  life's  course

So leave us with our dignity

Leaves us  knowing we only ask  you are thankful for the time together

The memories shared

And the dreams  that you may celebrate our lives by

Restoring all that has  been lost..

Family, Faith, Love, Hope,  and Courage to change that which you can

and accepting that which you cannot change...
