Ninety percent of what we worry and talk about never happens. If it were not for fear, insurance companies would go broke overnight and all the energy we pack into talking would be put into getting well and becoming wealthy. Many exquisite rewards exist for those of us who can stop talking trouble. If we could keep our mouths shut and our eyes and ears open, there would be far fewer things to prey on us.
~ The armies of the whites are without number, like the sands of the sea, and ruin will follow all tribes that go to war with them. ~

Elder's Meditation of the Day - February 13
"I wanted to feel, smell, hear and see, but not see with my eyes and my mind only. I wanted to see with CANTE ISTA-the eye of the heart."
Why is it what some people seem to have peace of mind every day? How do some people remain so darn positive? How do you stay positive if you work or live in a negative environment? How is it that two people can observe the same difficult situation, but one person is upset about it, and other isn't? Two people experiencing the same situation react entirely different. If each morning we ask the Creator to allow us to see with His understanding and with His love, we will open a new way of "seeing". This eye of the heart is a free gift given to us if we ask for it in prayer each day.
Grandfather, allow me to see the world and all things You have made through "the eye of my heart."
'THINK on THESE THINGS'

Texture is that finely woven fabric of life that demands we have a congenial environment. It asks that we be industrious toward success, and that we should have a way of life, a purpose. We should hear the music of life and taste the bitter and the sweet.
Texture requires us to research every experience and learn the lessons in it. It orders us to communicate with life and make discoveries about ourselves and progress toward a texture where the coarse has been refined.
Frequently we should examine the texture of life to identify the quality. How wide is my world? How high is my sky?
All of us should know our own makeup, our capabilities, our gifts with which we have been divinely endowed. And we should think long on these words from Edna St. Vincent Millay's Renascence:
"The world stands out on either side no wider than the heart is wide. Above the world is stretched the sky, no higher than the soul is high."

The things that try people's souls are not always from outside themselves. Fear is one of those things and it has no right to intrude on our peace of mind. But it will if we let it. We are weakened when we tell ourselves we cannot help what we feel. Feelings are like the pounding of the surf that washes over things that are supposed to be permanent. Sandbag them! We are wise and strong when we say we are - and we are well and happy when we dwell on being well and happy instead of hearing all the things that "could be". Everyone is trying to get ahead by being forewarned - but your spirit knows what is true. Let it warn You.

Elder's Meditation of the Day - February 14
"Sometimes, life is very simple, but it is we two-leggeds, we who are thought to be smart that make it complicated."
Sometimes it may take years for us to find out what we are really after-it is to be happy. The Elders say, lead a simple life. This
Doesn't necessarily mean poor, it means simple. There are some things that makes life complicated such as needing control, needing power or being resentful or angry. These things make complications happen. We need to walk in balance in every area of our lives.
Great Spirit, let me lead a simple life.
'THINK on THESE THINGS'
By Joyce Sequichie Hifler
There are many fears in he minds of man, but none so subtle, yet so effectual, as fear of failure.
We are so afraid we've been unwise and wasted valuable time and it makes us wonder how many times we've failed those who depended upon us, and how many times we've failed ourselves.
Time seems too short to make up and overcome the things long past. It seems sometimes that opportunities are there and gone before we've had time to make use of them. We condemn ourselves so much for the lack of knowledge when we most needed it. But if decisions were made on after thought, they might not be as wise as those made quickly, without time to think.
We should no longer think about past failures, nor give undue thought to our chances for future ones, but only begin now to do the very best we can.
True failure comes only to those who stop trying, for no age, no time, no place can stop the person who decides to try one more time. As Frederick William Farra, English author, has written, "There is only one real failure in life that is possible, and that is, not to be true to the best ones knows."
