hard it been so stormy here and out and about trying to save trees b4 they get blown down! :( but glad to be off now for a bit! hows you good i hope :)
Last Sunday, while standing in my Sunday School room and awaiting for the children to come from the sanctuary to class, my friend came in to talk with me. We were facing the windows in my room and she said she could see a butterfly. I kept asking "Where??" *I think she was just fooling me 'cause she knows, with the height difference, I could hardly see out the window.
Thank you for the welcome. I am heartwarmed by everyone's friendliness and it is much appreciated. When the Dingoes cry tonight I will send warm thoughts through their song. Thank you.
Thanks so much Loretta. I am more than happy to stay in this group, absorb, learn and be a part of things. Time is short for me at the moment as I still work but at the end of July I will be at home and then I can truly be a part. Its wonderful that distance means nothing nowadays.
I think I filed my head today under L for lost!! Oh well it's Wednesday. The dingoes howl is like the coyotes & wolves to see in the movies. It is the most hauntingly beautifully sad song, it tingles your soul somehow you feel it deep in your bones. i cannot describe it better than that, but that description doesn't do it justice.
Thanks for sharing that with me. When I lived in Africa my favourite cat was the Cheetah. Not as majestic as the lion but sleeker and faster and less imposing than the big cats. I won't say 'friendlier' that would be stretching the truth!
Hi I know my children were fortunate they grew up on an African Game ReservBefore we immigrated to Australia so they have certainly had some special experiences. My youngest son is going to live at the very top of Queensland at the end of this month. On Thursday Island, so he will again experience new and exciting things. Dad & I are staying put to look after the property!! Too tired to move again. The good game reserves have become tourist money traps now, the same as the Zambesi Falls. You need excessive US $ to have the shortest stay. So sad, but I have my memories and that can't be taken away.
You are certainly blessed Loretta. I have a treasured book on my bookshelf "Bury my Heart at Wounded Knee"by Dee Brown. One day if the Universe agrees I will come and see these places that I have only travelled to through pages of literature. Blessings
Hi Loretta hope your Mother's Day is as special as mine has been. I understand what you are saying about the bitterness that still exists. The aboriginals here in Australia also carry this burden, as do the ancestors of the convicts that were sent here 9perhaps because they are quieter about it, but the bitterness is still there). My Great Great Grandparents were convicts to Australia from Ireland, and my father was born here. He left as a child to live in South Africa . My mother was of German extraction and I was born in the Then Rhodesia. What a cultural mix I am. My husband is alos of German/Dutch ancestory and we married and lived on the Game Reserves in South Africa until in our early 50's we decided to move to NZ. The cold unfortunately did not agree with us being used to warmer climates and my son moved to Australia - so after 11 years in NZ we came to this part of Australia in 2008. My son moves on to the top end of Queensland at the end of this month but we stay and look after the home-fires for them. They should come back in about 3 years or so. Great for them to explore as we did.
The Indigenous people here do have so much to be angry about and sadly prejudice has not lessened on either side. The actions taken by both sides just seems to drive everyone further a part. I do a Healing Prayer at the Creek as often as I can for both sides.
Blessings Loretta I apologise for 'waffling'on.
