WE HAD AN EARTHQUAKE HERE RIGHT BEFORE 2:00 EST TODAY. I WAS SITTING AT MY PC AND ALL OF A SUDDEN MY MONITOR STARTED SHAKING AND THE HOUSE STARTED SHAKING AND I DIDN'T KNOW WHAT WAS GOING ON. IT WAS A 5.8 AND THE CENTER OF THE EARTHQUAKE STARTED FROM MINERAL VIRIGINA AND WENT UP AS FAR AS WASHINGTON DC ALL DON'T THE EAST COAST ALL THE WAY DOWN TO PARTS OF SOUTH CAROLINA. IT WAS A SCARY FEELING. PARTS OF BALTIMORE MARYLAND THE BUILDINGS CAME APART AND IN ONE PART OF VIRGINIA A STEEL BEAM AND PARTS OF THE BRUILDING FELL ON SEVERAL CARS BUT LUCKY NO ONE WAS HURT OR KILLED. WE DON'T HAVE THEM HERE IN NORTH CAROLINA AND I TELL YOU I HOPE THAT I DON'T WANT TO SEE ANOTHER ONE. OF COURSE IT COULD HAVE BEEN WORSE. LIKE CALIFORNIA. AND WE LIVE IN A MOBILE HOME AND I WAS SCARED TO DEATH. I GOT UP FROM MY PC AND ASK MY HUSBAND WHAT WAS GOING ON AND HE DIDN'T KNOW. IT LASTED ABOUT 30 TO 40 SECONDS BUT THAT WAS TO LONG. THEY WEATHERMAN HERE SAID THAT THE REASON IT WAS FELT AS FAR AS IT WAS BECAUSE IT WAS UNDER SHALLOW GROUND AND NOT REALLY DEEP UNDER THE GROUND. I AM DOING OK BUT STILL SHAKEN UP AND NOW WE HAVE HURRICANE IRENE COMING IN BY THE WEEKEND. BUT GOES TO SHOW WE ARE NOT IMMUNE TO ANYTHING THAT MOTHER NATURE PUTS ON US. JUST WANTED TO LET ALL KNOW THAT WHAT HAS HAPPEN TODAY BUT AM DOING OK. NO ONE HAS BEEN REPORTED HURT OF KILLED. SO PEOPLE SHOULD KNOW THAT THE CREATOR IS STILL IN CHARGE. BLESSINGS TO ALL. LOVE AND HUGS.

Hope you and everyone stays safe from the hurricane and takes measures for food and water and evacuation plans if they are called to leave areas.

Glad to hear all okay there.

I live in California and HATE earthquakes; never get used to them but we cannot afford to move now. I hope no big ones...

Osiyo Willa,
I live in so. California in the mountains and earthquakes are never an easy thing when they are of any size and am glad you all are well after the event. I have been keeping up with the hurricane thing and hope you will all be okay and take the necessary precautions.
We live a couple of miles from the San Andreas fault up in the mountains at about 6700 feet. In 92 we had a quake here in Big Bear City that was a 6.8 and centered less than a half mile from where we live. Nothing was left standing in the house and we quit counting aftershocks when they got to 75 that day. We had no power running water nor gas for a few days but were well prepared. Hope you are also with Irene on the way.
As you say, Earth Mother will have her way and the way humans have treated her she will have the final say in things.
Please take good care and keep us informed...we all care about you and those you love.

Some of the natural disasters happen very quickly but can be very scary. (On Sunday, a powerful tornado ripped through a town near me, causing death and destruction.) I will keep all those effected in my prayers, as I do with any disaster.
Thank you for the discription and glad you're okay.

I'm glad you are o.k. Willa...Earthquakes can be very scary especially if you are not used to them. I live in a pretty active earthquake area here in Calif. and I grew up in Naples Italy where we also had alot of earthquakes so I'm used to the ground shaking!. People have been teasing me lately because I'm moving from earthquake country to hurricanes and tornados. I think I prefer the earthquakes....You can check out some of the videos Kind Island has posted lately on earthquakes...they are pretty interesting.
Stay safe...
Hugs,
LadyHawk
