A few months ago I had a bedroom for rent. A man came over to look at the room and he said he loved the room and the house and he really wanted to live here. We went into the den to talk about the general rules of the house and before I had a chance to say anything he looked at me and said you may not want to rent to me because I'm an addict and I have a police record. So much for that background check! Anyway, he is an alcoholic but he just celebrated his 5 years of being clean last month. It turns out he is one of the best tenants I have ever had in here and I couldn't be happier I gave him a chance.
