Last night after leaving the Accident and Emergency department of the hospital (I had broken my foot) I saw the most beautiful sunset I have ever seen. Needless to say, I didn't have my camera with me as it was the last thing I needed while at the hospital! LOL.
Tomorrow my grandson Charlie (almost 5 years old--November 30th) starts school and is coming over after school to show me his uniform. If you know about schools in the U.K., you will know that uniforms as mandatory in order not to have some children who have rich parents dress "up-market" while others have to wear either 2nd hand or hand-me-down clothes. This way they are all uniform and no one stands out. Charlie is very excited about starting school and I only hope he can curb his enthusiasm for talking about everything under the sun. His two-year old brother, Lucas, will miss him as they are very close and it is so good to see their love for each other although I must say that just on a few occasions Charlie gets a little upset with Lucas when he takes his Lego models and pulls them apart! Boys will be boys.
The weather is beautiful and we have had the best summer for decades but no rain (which is needed) and I often wonder why we can't harness all the rain instead of letting it flood the land and then six months later we have a drought. I suppose that is progress.
I hope everyone had a lovely summer. My shoulder is still not back to normal and my hips are giving me gip but the pelvic fractures are healed so hopefully I will be running races again real soon (haha) I will be 81 years old on September 24th so I suppose I am entitled to a few aches and pains. My brain is still 100% functionable though so that is a good thing.
Hugs to everyone and while I don't get in here very often I do think of you all every day.
Grandchildrentag:warriornation.ning.com,2012-03-30:6193495:BlogPost:1703152012-03-30T15:51:41.000ZGloster Galhttps://warriornation.ning.com/profile/GlosterGal

Not only is it Friday today and Easter coming up, but I am off to see my two grandsons today as soon as their Dad picks me up after he gets off work. Charlie will have spent the afternoon in pre-kindergarten (he's 3) and Lucas got up to his usual antics and hit the TV cabinet so hard that David's VERY expensive camera and lens fell off to hit the floor!

He is only 13 months old so we can't be too upset with him--that's Lucas, not David!

The sun is shining and I think this is part…

The sun is shining and I think this is part of how our Spring weather used to be way back when. The government put out a stupid warning for people to fill up their gas tanks as there may be a strike of hauliers, which now means long queues for gas at all the service stations, some have put up closed signs as they have run out of supplies, and one stupid woman filled up some jerry cans with petrol (gas) and was transferring them into another container when it blew up--she had the cooker on! She has 40% burns but I really can't feel too sorry for her as that was just plain stupidity.
Enough for today, but hope everyone has a wonderful weekend.
Update on spinetag:warriornation.ning.com,2012-03-04:6193495:BlogPost:1620722012-03-04T18:16:58.000ZGloster Galhttps://warriornation.ning.com/profile/GlosterGal

Good news/bad news! Surgeon wants to insert three metal screws in my spine at the L4/5 spot because it is narrowed beyond other kind of repair. This would mean three days in hospital, three months recuperation and six to seven months of "taking it easy"; then if this doesn't work he will insert a rod along my spine because of the scoliosis.

I thought long and hard and decided NOT to go ahead with it at this time and have left it open because I am not getting any younger and I have plans…

Hopefully I can manage the pain with the help of my doctor who is very understanding about my decision not to have surgery right now. He has me on patches for the pain and will review on Thursday. They don't seem to help much but will try anything.
Don't worry about me, I am a positive person and having had three spinal surgeries already it doesn't phase me if I have to have another one.
Bouncing backtag:warriornation.ning.com,2011-10-28:6193495:BlogPost:1413422011-10-28T19:16:49.000ZGloster Galhttps://warriornation.ning.com/profile/GlosterGal

Thank you to everyone for all the birthday wishes and for being positive for me.

The good news is that I have had surgery (at the Day Surgical Unit at Gloucester Royal Hospital) and have had injections into my spine and surrounding area either side of the spine so that I am now PAIN FREE! There is no guarantee how long this will last but it has now been two weeks and I am feeling great. I just have to remember I am not a spring chicken any more and have to watch what I can do--for instance I am not allowed to lift anything heavier than a donut! Just kidding, I am restricted to how much I can pick up and I am being careful so that I won't be landed with more pain. I do have scoliosis of the spine but after having these problems since I was 21 years old and numerous surgeries, I am still fighting fit! LOL.
Thank you all again for your kind thoughts and words and I have had my friend from California here for three weeks which did me a world of good and also my friend from Ireland for a week, so it was all go, go, go.
Thank you yet again for the birthday greetings.
Snowdonia triptag:warriornation.ning.com,2010-10-17:6193495:BlogPost:195182010-10-17T15:58:59.000ZGloster Galhttps://warriornation.ning.com/profile/GlosterGal

Visited castles and gardens and the weather was sunny and warm (very unusual for this time of year in Wales as it usually rains there)
The day we left the mist rolled in and it got a little chilly, but then once back into England after taking a roundabout way, the sun came out again. Went to Norfolk (King's Lynn) for a couple of days then back home to Cheltenham, where it was cold and frosty Saturday night....today the sun has broken through again and it is lovely so a very enjoyable Sunday too.

Hope everyone has forgiven me for not posting anything lately....have been travelling around and also have a stack of work to do now....neglected my Ancestry page as well, so have to get really busy in the next few days.

Hope everyone is well and enjoying October.
