"We will be known forever by the tracks we leave. – Dakota
About Me:
Almost at retiring age. Old walker in the ways of the esoteric & wican way. With a very strong leaning towards the Lakota ways & beliefs. I like the simple things in life and the natural. I have a deep love and respect for truth & honesty.
Welcome to our Warrior Nation family Patricia. Join in and enjoy. You are on a different time scale to the Americans and more so to me here in England. But the internet covers the world, thank goodness so time is not important.
I bet the call of the Dingoes are just as mysterious as the call of the Coyotes where I live. The folks here are very nice and we try to keep out those who would do harm to this group. Please feel free to ask any question you may have. I'm one of the admins on here and if I don't know the answer, I can find out. If you what to start a group, feel free but please check to make sure it isn't duplicated (have some who will start a group just for the heck of it then turn around and start another one with the same subject matter but under a different name) or just join any of the fine groups on here. If you feel that you're being harassed by another member, please let us know and we will deal with it.
Their song is beautiful. In the little valley that I live in, we can tell when one of the mountain lions are coming thru because the coyotes are quiet and the deer head for places unknown until the cat leaves. Last summer, I saw a young coyote, just about hit him with my van while driving down one of the dirt roads out of town. Don't know who was more frightened, him or me. I did stop in time and he ran off into the field. We also have wild turkeys that roam the area. They help keep the cricket population down (those crickets get into everything if you're not careful).
I have a friend who lives in the Abu Dabie area and before she had gotten married she vacationed in Africa. She sent us pictures and I thought how much they looked like different areas of the U.S. and had thought, at that time, maybe someday I would like to visit that country. But now, it is almost impossible to travel outside the U.S. without having a lot of cash to do so. Even visiting places in the U.S. have become expensive. I guess that's why I moved further west so that my children, who still live at home, can see some of the places that they've only read about in books.
I live within an hours drive from Crazy Horse Monument, Mount Rushmore, Wounded Knee and a whole mess of other places that hold historical value. It's a little farther drive to see boothill up in Deadwood though (big tourist trap up there). Getting to these places you almost have to drive thru the heart of the Black Hills. Now if I were to head east, I would hit the Badlands and their beauty. For me these are all day trips and if you know where to go, don't cost a lot of money.
Sorry, I forgot to tell you that our site creator has just moved cross-country and will be without Internet for a while yet. If you have any questions though, please feel free to ask me or one of the other admins.
There are still a lot of strife amongst the Native Americans that everyone has turned a blind eye to for so long that, even now, it's going to take a very long time to help fix the problems. I want to show my kid why I love this part of the land, to show them that they can make a difference and not bring down anyone that they meet, but also to be on their guard against anyone that will do them harm without doing harm to others. Giving them a better understanding of history of the land and the people who live here. Giving them that gift, I hope to give them understanding to see others differently.
My ancestor also came from Ireland during the time that they were sending them here during the mid 1600's. I have had ancestors who have fought in every major conflict that the U.S. had been in starting with the French-Indian war. On my mothers side at least. Not too sure on my dads side. I do know that two of those on my dads side settled two towns up in Canada when it was part of the U.S. during the Revolutionary war. One of the brothers stayed up there and the other came back to the colonies. Don't know what the kids have planned for Mothers day yet. They aren't ones for planning ahead and I'm kind of tired of reminding them about different holidays. But I do have my day planned out which includes staying calm, cool and maybe not getting out of my pajamma's all day, sort of being lazy and not do a darn thing.
ooops! Have a good week Patricia! My brother lives in Ballina so I'm used to the time change. I just got a really late start getting some comments out today. Hugs
Thank you everyone for being THERE. Silently, caring without pressure. Bless you all in the loving silence of the universe. Have a good weekend and week.
