Such a Special Day Summer is here and Fathers everywhere are hopefully being reminded just how important they are and have been, especially those who now have been blesses with Grand Children.. and all those Fathers who stepped in and became Dads for those who needed a Fwther figure in their Lives, and a Special shout out to the Moms who have struggled to be both Mom and Dad..

Thankfully I got my bank under control.. I keep thinking I need a couple billy goats cause as I ge that bank gets steeper every single time.... And it is the only area I cannot landscape and bark dust, cause with oregon rains I would be wastingmy time and money.. But it's done once more as today promises to be warmer.. than yesterday..

Good news yesterday was our Military Family grew again, a Beautiful, healthy baby Girl, 6lbs 5 oz and dad says a full head of hair..So today is a very special day for him..

Our underground weather station predicts a 70 today but it already feels warmer than that and they say it is going to remain foggy in the early hours for the next week with clearing and dry warmer weather.... Everything is blooming early this year and all the plants seem to be growing leaps and bounds.. Leading I hope to enough to can and share with the neighbors who have no idea how to plant a seed .. Except for my two young vagabons who wander around.. They each have a gallon ice cream bucket here one growing the small sweet baby carrots and the other has a bush cucumber plant.. They come almost every day to check and care for them and when they start producing they get to take them home.. So I will have company for quite awhile .. Children are so absorbant to new things ..

Wishing everyone a Fantastic Day

Hope you all had a good weekend and you dad's enjoyed family time, and of course you mom's who are also dad's as well. By this weekend they are calling for it to be 107...ugh. Will be a quiet weekend it looks like....staying indoors with the air conditioner going. Calling for over a week of above 100 ....think summer is officially here.
Hope all of you have better weather and are seeing the beauty of each day!!!

's another Monday and I hope everyone had a Great week end and all the Fathers now have Memories that will last a lifetime...

It is so dry here in Oregon and sadly people are being neglectful and we as well as Washington have fires destroying that which should be protected..

Our weather for my area NW Oregon & SW Washington is very different than most are dealing with..TODAY
today cloudy in the morning...then partly sunny. slight chance of drizzle in the morning. highs 60 to 70. west wind 5 to 10 mph.

TONIGHT
tonight partly cloudy in the evening...then mostly cloudy. lows around 50. northwest wind 5 to 10 mph.

Guess that is why I call my area my little piece of Heaven.. I also have made sure there areno fire hazards around my home.. ..Even took my bank down to almost nothing but soil just incase some nut throws out a burning cigarette.. Do not like doing this but seems like my bank is a dumping ground for those driving by.. Especially since the children in my area have learned to respect my area or they will get a visit from me and will be cleaning it up.. They are so very good at letting me know when a new kid messes with Mother Earth..

Well people I have much to do and much to learn today so I need to get busy and engage the brain..

Understand you are a blessing in my world and I thank you all..

I guess summer is officially here... A high of 99 today but the southern humidity makes it more like 115 degrees. We should cool off a little this week and our lows are staying around 77.
I need one of those small pools out back!
Everyone try and stay cool...

Lady Hawk....what part of the south are you in? My daughter is moving tomorrow to Clemmons N.C. from the high deserts of so. California. She is used to the hot but think she will be in for a shock with the humidity. Here in NE Washington state it will be above 100 for some days and we have some humidity but not like the deeper south. I spent time in N.C. while in the service and the heat and humidity were much like SE Asia.
We will all have to take a trip to Loretta's place for a week and enjoy that cooler weather eh?
Enjoy your week everyone!!!!

I moved to Montgomery Al. 3 summers ago from California San Francisco Bay Area. I think our average temp in the Bay Area was about 89 in the summer but we always had a cool breeze in the evening from the bay. Here in Montgomery we are looking at 99 to 103 degrees this week. No breeze and high humidity has been quite an adjustment for me. I think what has helped me the most was losing alot of weight after I moved here. I found if I keep my weight around 120 I can still work out in the yard most of the day. Another problem I've had is allergies since I've moved here. I'm on medicine twice a day now because of it.
We didn't really have air conditioning in the bay area so I'm not used to it. I usually keep it off most of the day but I have to turn it on later in the afternoon for the guys that live here. I rent 3 of my bedrooms out so keeping the air on for them isn't an option. The biggest shock is the utilities in Alabama are triple from California. My average power bill is $200 because I keep the heat and air off when nobody else is here. The neighbors across the street run theirs constantly and their average power bill is $500.00 a month. Gas here is on a separate bill and that's another 60 a month. Wow...Calif. was $90.00 a month for both gas and electric together!
The hotter areas in California were just that...hot but you could still breath. I hope the area she is moving to doesn't have high humidity like here. Hopefully with being farther north it won't be as bad.
I hope Loretta has some extra room because come next month I just may head that way!
Take it easy and stay cool!

WOW as I read what all of you face in these up coming days I am so thankful for what I have as far as weather goes.. Last year when it was warm and the Hood to Coast Run was happening my Daughter and her better half who always participate and run for cancer cures set up tents on my little piece of heaven and this year they have already said they will be here again in Aug. with more people and a couple more tents.. I think they enjoy the fact my deer will wander through checking them out as they head for the bay.. I have always said if you can survive life in a teepee .. with only what God, Mother earth and nature supplies you can survive anywhere.. So I guess if it gets to hot grab you tent and come on.. it's a short drive to the ocean, a short walk to the bay and Columbia river, and a short drive to walk many trails on our hills and mountains.. They say the high will be 72 but if yu put your chairs in the shade of my fir trees you will want a light weight jacket or sweater .. Got my windows open so God can move the dust if he must and the house is cool.. Best time to make some hot breads, and cinnamon rolls... and all those other wifey things men seem to expect... but truth is they are things I enjoy doing with or without a man around the house.. Have a great day everyone, hopefully you can stay cool..

PS: Aug is booked up with tents and family runs and reunions so plan carefully if you head my way, we are a crazy bunch who do crazy things just for the fun of it..

Off to a warm start this morning and by Sunday calling for 108 so today is getting this huge lawn cut and doing any last minute shopping. Loretta...sounds like you have a great and active family and I can only bet they truly enjoy your weather and the critters. Last year we moved into this small town from being 12 miles out in the country and I do miss the morning and evening deer and other critters. Wishing all of you good things this day and thank all who participate on this site...truly a place here to call home. Happy birthday to all who have them today...and hope you have many more for sure!!

Morning everyone... Tsoi I also live in a small town but am on the out skirts have hill and water and so I still have all my critters.. It ws 57 this morning and again they say a high of 72.. which is good..

Yes my Family is very active and have run the Hood to coast for quite awhile with all their funds going to Cancer Foundations.. or Families struggling to meet the high costs..We as a Family have faced many things and there was always someone willing yo help so we all live with the pay itforward goal in life..

Well my friends have a great day and please if you got up with a frown , I want you to grab amirror, go to a corner , stand on your head and take a look at how beautiful a smile can be if you turn that frown upside down.
