Comment by Val on December 15, 2011 at 9:32pm: Cards? I am soooo bad at mailing anything! I do send e-mails though and send the e-mail cards. Some are quite nice and there are free cards but some sites send out mass advertising so have to be very careful what card sites you visit.

As for shopping, no money for much. We all decided a few years ago since so many are out of work that we would simply draw a name from a hat during Thanksgiving family gathering and that would be the person you would get a gift for.

How it works...you write your name and a list of things you need (or would like) and the person who draws your name picks something to get for you. This way, the gift is something needed and/or wanted and there is not the pressure to buy each and everyone a gift and the worry over if it will simply be re-gifted or tossed away.

I sure hope things do calm down and balance out for you there. Home School is the way I would have done things had I had to have my son in school again. He is 23 now and taking a photography/video class and writing. Hoping he finishes his book soon so hubby and I can retire! Just kidding LOL he is taking his time with the writing and he soon hopes to have it finished in about a year is his goal. Right now he is concentrating on film and photos.

School these days, the way it is I know myself I could not deal with the pressures of fitting in (I did not fit in any group and felt lost pretty much); was very bad at the tests, and well..was just awkward! I wish my dad had home schooled me like some neighbors did with their children. They always had activities, seemed far above the regularly school kids and more polite overall. Not saying all public schools are bad just some kids do better in a home school. Some kids do great in public school. Everyone is different. Anyway...hope if the home school gets situated it works out.
